Also congratulations to all competitors making it to the last day. Bad luck story being Team #4 Brad & Phil who managed to go dull side up on the last SS which resulted them in dropping back a place. Lynda took out the last SS of the day while Christian & Terry were not backing off (even only having to start in each SS on the last day to secure their win)
I was very pleased how official & competitors alike worked together making my job a lot easier.
All vehicle were still drivable apart from Team #4 which sustained major panel damage after a roll on SS4 the last day.
Vehicle damages:-
CV's heaps, including a couple of Longfields in Team 8 Toyota. I also lost count on how many Troy & Troy #11 "Bomb Squard" replaced
- Couple of diff centers
- Rear axles more then one
- Some cables
- Several winch motors
- Couple of brake shafts
- Fuel pump
- Several Rims & tyres
And the list goes on.
Human injuries:-
- Tried - everyone
- Scratched & nicked - everyone
- Blocked air ways - everyone
- Sore neck - Lynda #20, I think she just wanted to have a ride in an ambulance!
- Shane Marsden - damaged wrist, hope all is ok
- Bites from being in the weir - Just MMM.

-:Friday Day 7:-
Only 2 days to go and 11SS. There will be 3 day SS & 3 night SS.
There are under 100 points between 1st & 2nd at the moment. We still have 11SS to complete.
More updates tomorrow evening. But only if time premits, due to 3SS at night.
-:Thursday Day 6:-
Yes we are well and truly at the end of day 6. Just returned from having a bit of Aarons birthday cake, on his special day. Happy birthday mate.
So here is the report.
SS1:- Just a a simple SS with a winning time of 2.25.03 by Cameron & Sam, Team #12 average time was mid 4 minutes for the rest of the field. This SS saw Lynda & Aaron having a trouble free run of 4.24.15; but a tree appeared to step in front of the vehicle resulting in a little clip, but it was enough to jar Lynda's neck resulting in an ambulance being called to make sure she was ok. Hospital checked, slight brusing, be carefull and have a rest. Guess what Team #20 was back in line to complete the rest of the days SS. Lynda said her neck was feeling a lot better tonight.
SS2:- Reverse creek run with a few added winch walls. Fastest time on this SS was Mark & Luke from Team #9 in 14.52. Brad Dukes & Mick Upham, Team #13 managed to put it on the side but recovered and finished the SS in 34.57 which was well within time.
SS3:-Fastest time was Mark & Luke #9 in 3.36.59 followed by #1 Christian & Terry in 3.44.72
The children played "Laser Skermish" this afternoon befor eAarons birthday cake came out. Drivers wopped the codrivers 76 to 39.
-:Wednesday Day 5:-
One long GPS SS, go to point A to get the next point then to B then C then D etc etc:-
SS1 a GPS stage that was fun with not to many tears apart from driver of #20. But in saying that Aaron being a concerned hubby just told her to get a grip of what ever, and just do it now!!!!!! Guess what Lynda made it to the finish with a smile on her face and you should have seen Aarons face, the grip must have worked.
Now for some comments from Team #20 :-
For all stages we had an absolute ball except for the first stage ... where DAVO can shove it fair up his A$$ ...... Seriously it was awesome, except when the driver has to perform as the navi and the driver too ... says Lynda.
Yes she was talking brail!!!!!!! but as Lynda cannot see what I am saying I am safe at least for now.
But as the saying goes do not let the truth get in the way of a good story.
SS5:- Just follow the track (Lynda is here at the moment and you do not want to here what she is saying) over a little log, nose dive into the track, winch out and continue before nose diving again, then up a hill and follow the track into the finish garage. Winner on this stage was Team #7 Michael & Jason.
SS3:- GPS - 7 points with 12 minutes to complete. This SS was won by Team #4 Brad & Phil.
SS2:- This SS you just followed the track to the end go & find 3 punches and return to finish garage. Simple for some but very hard for others. Won by #7 Michael & Jason.
SS4:- This SS had 3 punches and a log bridge to go over, twice. Some teams had to loop around twice to get the punch points (lack of concentration, yet again). This SS won by #1 Christian & Terry.
Midway presentation was Pizza & cold drinks in the middle of a dust storm. Good night was had by all.
Only 3 days to go.
-:Tuesday:-
Day 4 and nearly there!!!!!!!!!
I would like to thank Ian Davison for the use of his property today.
We ran 2 long SS with SS2 seeing Teams having to winch several times out of the gully to get to the finish line. Christian & Terry Team #1 were first in, managed to brake a CV and had to double line pull to the top, their time was 63 minutes, only 3 minutes away from the DNF time (but on the wrong side of the line). Teams # 6 & 11 sat this one out due to breakages and Team#3 came out to support all their Team mates. Shai (Codriver Team #3) was very exhausted after Mondays SS and needed a break and they were also smart enough to listen to what was said about todays SS. They will be back in action tomorrow.
SS1 today had a couple of teams unable to read a map (no wives to help them) and go the wrong way, even Jason StJohn Team #8 got it correct and finished the SS not only the correct way but earning themselves 82 points. Lynda nearly put it on its roof again in SS1 in the waterfall area, but with Aaron on the other end of the winch rope was able to control another "Nasty", they finished with 71 points for the SS. Fastest was Christian & Terry Team #1 taking 4 minutes of the then fastest time set by Team #9 Mark & Luke.
A big thanks to a small band of both CQ officials & Brisbane based officials.
Casualties for the day:-
- CV Team #1
- Winch damage Team #6
- Drive train failure #7
- Winch motor #20
- #11 is up in air so at this point is unknown
- Fuel pump in Team #5 (this occured during SS1, resulting in a DNF)
- A lot of vehicles suffered from burnt power steering oil
- All codrivers at the top of SS2
-:Mondays SS:-
Day 3 16SS completed and still a lot to go!!!!
Today we conducted 2 GPS SS and a long creek run with up to ranged from 2 to 4 winches.
Winning time on this SS was Lynda & Aaron in 17.56.00 but received a 15 point penalty for failing to punch card.
SS1A was a 20 point GPS won by Christian & Terry Team#1 followed by Lynda & Aaron Team#20, it appeared that what Team #1 got wrong so did Team #2, bit strange ???????
SS2B was a 20 point GPS. Teams started with 2 points had to go & find and take another 2 points then it was one at a time.
Winner of this SS was Joel & Paul Team #5, these guys were the only one's to find the full 20 points.
Today was very hot and some tempers were on boiling point during the SS.
Some more damage today and now several teams are facing outside penalties.
After the day finished vehicles were washed and loaded ready for short transport to Tuesdays SS area. Leaving at 0600hrs Tuesday morning.
-:Sundays SS:-
Day 2 Sunday 20th September.
Stuck head out of "XI Command Office" early hours today and spotted Team 11, Troy & Troy Carriage vehicle being held up by a Hiab. They are still carring out repairs to the high steer on the Patrol.
Christian & Terry 31 had some electrical issues last night, but have managed to get repaired.
1 Sprint SS followed by 4 Winch SS & this evening 1 Night SS.
This happened to change to 1 sprint SS & 5 winch style SS, night SS was given a miss due to lack of interest by everyone being very tied (some competitors stressed) and officials (wanting a cold drink)
What a day. Some great driving as usual.
2 vehicles out, ARB Rocky ute, broken rear pinion, & Olly Clews with front diff problems. Both these teams were only competing on the weekend events, so hopefully they will ready to run next weekend.
Today was again very hot. The spectators seemed to be pleased with what had been set up for the days event.
Troy & troy #11 worked on their Patrol all last night taking out their 4 link and refitting with standard Nissan set up. They managed to put it on its side in SS2 but were able to right their mishap and managed to finish out of time, buggar!!
The rest of the field suffered very little damage and no major repairs were required.
After 6SS today field is very tied and starting to act if it were day 6.
Prep talk in morning coming up.
Official are working very hard and are still in happy mode, thank god for that.
